<p>Our students deserve a strong academic foundation that prepares them for whatever comes next. We need to strengthen achievement in core subjects like English and math, give teachers the support and resources they need, and identify where students are falling behind before those gaps grow.</p><p>Putting students first means setting high expectations, measuring our progress, and making sure every student has the opportunity and support to reach their full potential.</p>

<h2>Students Come First</h2>

<p>Our district has some difficult budget decisions ahead. We need to be responsible with every dollar and look for savings outside the classroom first, while protecting our students and teachers as much as possible.</p>

<h2>Responsible Budget Priorities</h2>

<p>We need safer drop-offs and pickups, enough crossing guards where they're needed, and better supervision of student drivers at the high school. Every student should be able to get to and from school safely.</p>

<h2>Safe Schools, Safe Students</h2>

<p>Our students succeed when great teachers have the support they need to succeed. Gilroy must be able to attract talented educators and give them reasons to build their careers here.</p>
