<p>Every decision our district makes should begin with one question:&nbsp;<strong>How will this help our students succeed?</strong></p>

<h2>Students Come First</h2>

<p>Our district has some difficult budget decisions ahead. We need to be responsible with every dollar and look for savings outside the classroom first, while protecting our students and teachers as much as possible.</p>

<h2>Responsible Budget Priorities</h2>

<p>Getting our kids safely to and from school should be something every parent can count on. Right now, traffic around many of our schools is a real concern, especially during drop-off and pickup.</p><p>We need to take a closer look at traffic flow around our campuses, whether we have enough crossing guards where they are needed, and how we can improve safety for students who walk or bike to school. At the high school, we also need better supervision and clear expectations for student drivers.</p><p>These may seem like simple things, but they matter. Our responsibility for student safety doesn't begin and end at the classroom door.</p>

<p>We need safer drop-offs and pickups, enough crossing guards where they're needed, and better supervision of student drivers at the high school. Every student should be able to get to and from school safely.</p>

<h2>Safe Schools, Safe Students</h2>

<p>Our students succeed when great teachers have the support they need to succeed. Gilroy must be able to attract talented educators and give them reasons to build their careers here.</p>
