<p>Every decision our district makes should begin with one question:&nbsp;<strong>How will this help our students succeed?</strong></p>

<h2>Students Come First</h2>

<p>Our district is facing real budget challenges, and cuts in federal funding are making an already difficult situation even harder. That means we have to take a close look at where our money is going and make some tough decisions.</p><p>But those decisions should not come at the expense of our students or the teachers working with them every day. Before we make cuts in the classroom, we need to look everywhere else and ask what we can reduce, change, or simply do without.</p><p>We may not be able to fund everything we want, but we can make sure we're protecting what matters most.</p>

<p>Our district has some difficult budget decisions ahead. We need to be responsible with every dollar and look for savings outside the classroom first, while protecting our students and teachers as much as possible.</p>

<h2>Responsible Budget Priorities</h2>

<p>We need safer drop-offs and pickups, enough crossing guards where they're needed, and better supervision of student drivers at the high school. Every student should be able to get to and from school safely.</p>

<h2>Safe Schools, Safe Students</h2>

<p>Our students succeed when great teachers have the support they need to succeed. Gilroy must be able to attract talented educators and give them reasons to build their careers here.</p>
